I stumbled into a town
Without a whisper or sound
For I come from a land across the Nile
I would wonder and think
What the hell did they drink?
To get their façade and their smile
One towns man spoke up and said follow me
And I’ll show you the secret lies next to a tree
So I followed the man, out the town to the land
To a path that only lead up
And he said to me use your head and your knee
And hang on to this here cup
I was puzzled at first and confused all around
But I needed to know what brought joy to this town
So I grabbed that there cup and started the trek
I had nothing to do today what the heck
We climbed and we climbed through brush and debris
Until there it was right in front of me
It was a wide open court at the top of a mountain
And in the center a tree and a tiny old fountain
I said to the man I’ve seen many a fountain
He said, but not like this one on the top of our mountain
Take a taste of the water and see how you feel
You won’t know what’s fake and you won’t
know what is real
So I took up my cup in complete fascination
But thought for a second with real hesitation
I took the water to my lips and had me a taste
And drank every drop letting none go to waste
And I tell you this I tried to describe
The taste and the feeling, I felt so alive
The world all around made a beautiful sound
And I felt the earth breathe and I laid on the ground
And from that day on I lived in that place
In that small little town with a smile on my face
